2007 Oscars is finally here. The fashion expectation was high this year because all our favorite stars have been strutting their stuff with some of the most fabulous dresses on the red carpet all year at the many events, parties and other award show. The Oscars is supposed to be the super bowl of fashion and style. But I was quite
disappointed in the glamour effect. Some celebs were fabulous and conveyed a sense of old Hollywood glamour that has been modernized. My best dressed were...Penelope Cruz, Gwyneth
Paltrow, Nicole
Kidman, Cate
Blanchet, Helen
Mirren, and Reese Witherspoon.
But the rest was just okay and too safe. The good thing was that there really weren't any extreme worst dress like before. Check out my picks.
Best DressedPenelope Cruz looks absolutely amazing in this
Versace gown. The entire look is superb from head to toe. She completely understood that this is the OSCARS !!!!!
Gwyneth
Paltrow surprised me with
Zac Posen fitted gown.
Zac Posen knows a woman's body and Gwyneth pulls it off gracefully. Very polished.
Cate
Blanchett is always a risk taker on
the red carpet...she knows her limits. This Armani
Prive dress is absolutely fab...looks even better on
tv. Her hair and makeup screams glamour and sophistication.
Nicole
Kidman in
Balenciaga looks fab. The dress drapes her body with perfection, the bow on the side makes this dress modern and fashionable. Her red lips add glamour to the entire look. Her hair is kept simple as to not compete with her dress. Well done Nicole!
Helen knows what works for her and if it
ain't broke don't fix it. This
Christion Lacroix dress is perfect for her, and is age appropriate, sexy and sophisticated at the same time. A lot of these younger stars should learn a thing or two from Miss Helen.
Reese Witherspoon has become this overnight fashionista. Ever since her breakup, she has been looking great. This is fresh, young and sophisticated.
Rinko in Chanel Haute Couture looks brillant. She looks very soft, strong, and sophisticated at the same time. Simple but full glamour. Beyonce could have worn something like this and completely rocked it.
Just Okay...Jennifer Lopez looks beautiful, her make up and hair are pertect...but the overall look was not one of my favorites. I really expected a little more from Ms. Lopez. The dress was beautiful but not the most flattering on her. I see someone taller and leaner in a dress like this.
Emily Blunt from the Devil Wears Prada looked sweet in this Calvin Klein dress. But I would have loved to see some more sparkle on her ears...
Jada Pinket looks great from the back but "hard" from the front. The bodice of the dress looks like an armor. But her beauty is undeniable.
Biggest DisappointmentsBeyonce in Armani
Prive. The designers at Armani need a smack on the hand for this one and
Beyonce needs to really re-think her choices. The dresses she performs in are always better than her red carpet choices. Her face is so beautiful and her body is off the hook, but she needs to learn to not over do it with ornate dresses. Simplicity with a little
umpphh is always best.
I am
sooo happy for Jennifer Hudson's
oscar win. It pains me to put her on this list but I have to. The dress is beautiful, her hair and make-up...... superb but that python star wars jacket just spoiled the entire look.
After starring in the year's biggest movie showcasing beautiful couture fashions, you really have to represent. Anne Hathaway was confused with this choice. When choosing a dress, you have to take in consideration body type and the actual event itself. I think her team forgot that when this dress was chosen.
Cameron Diaz, I loved the dress, very fashion forward but it wasn't right for the Oscars and her hair needed to some Aveda finishing gloss!
Kirsten Dunst in Chanel Couture missed with this one. She is usually very fashionable and this dress would have worked at another event but not at the Oscars.
